Declaring Our Sovereignty Through Solidarity
The concept of "The Red Thread" comes from the fact that all Wombxn are connected by mtDNA, mitochondrial DNA, back to the first Mother. Therefore in this way, we are all connected to each other, through this mitochondrial "Red Thread". When we come together in community, in solidarity, we can create a powerful Red Web.
The existing colonial healthcare system for Women and Wombxn leaves a lot to be desired, to say the least. Founded on racism and misogyny, and still disproportionately underserving, and endangering, the lives of our Black, Brown, Indigenous and LGBTQIA+ siblings, the current Western gynecological and health care model is not serving us. And now, with the overturn of Roe v Wade, we are in need of safe spaces to turn to more than ever.
The Red Web is being created in a determined attempt at refusing to feel hopeless. Impolitely declining the pressure to feel helpless.
We have everything we need.
The Red Web is being designed to accomplish:
The goal is to gather practitioners, carriers of ancestral wisdom, womb caretakers, etc. into one safe space. Where we can connect with, learn with, collaborate with, and support each other.
Contributors willing to join the fight for sovereignty are going to make this possible by sharing information, tools, practices, medicines, resources, etc. that can help keep us healthy, safe, and ultimately thriving, without depending on a system that views our bodies as a commodity to be controlled.
Each individual that joins carries their own medicine, wisdom, perspective, value and strength. Your presence, whether you are a contributor or a learner, will enrich this community and grow this web stronger and farther.
Thank you for being here.
This takes a community. A network. All of us.
This is your invitation. To join together in solidarity and create something that truly, deeply, benefits us all.
